God created everything that is, and is separate and above everything else
God entered into a special relationship with the people He had made, drawing specially near to them
God put man in authority over the rest of creation
Gen 3:1-5 How does this compare with God's words in 2:16&17? (see also Revelation 12:9 concerning the serpent.)
Gen 3:6 Why did they disobey God? What does this tell us about sin today? (What is ‘sin’?)
Gen 3:7-13 How did their disobedience affect the people's attitude to God? (vv7-8 when they heard God coming; vv9-13 how they responded to God)
Gen 3:14-24 How did their disobedience affect God's relationship to His creation?
Gen 3:15 and 3:21 especially give us hope. What is encouraging about these verses?
2 Cor 5:21 “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus never sinned, but when He died on the cross he was punished for the sins of His people.
1 Cor 15:22-26 “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” Jesus came alive again from the dead, defeating death and all other authority, and all of His people will be made alive with Him to reign with Him.
